促黄体生成素(LH)是由垂体前叶的促性腺激素细胞合成的一种糖蛋白,可促进胆固醇在性腺细胞内转化为性激素。对于女性,促黄体生成素会刺激卵巢释放卵子,它的周期性的极速上升导致每月的排卵的发生;对于男性,促黄体生成素刺激睾丸间质细胞合成睾丸素。颗粒细胞的黄体化与细胞增大和黄体酮生成增加有关,颗粒细胞与卵巢中发育的配子(卵子)密切相关。
